A North Vernon man was fatally injured April 19 when he was struck by a vehicle on SR 7N, near the Country Squire Lakes Queensville gate

Ross Miller, 37, died from his injuries after being transported from the scene.

When Jennings County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the scene of the incident, they observed several military medics providing care to Miller who had been struck by a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Bonnie Bryant of Scipio. Bryant was also transported by EMS for evaluation after the accident.

The initial investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office indicates that Miller was walking southbound along the west side of SR 7N when he attempted to cross the highway and was struck by the Jeep. According to a spokesperson for the JCSO, at this time, alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been a factor in the accident, but the investigation is continuing.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Rescue 20, Scipio Geneva Fire Rescue, several members of the military, and Lucas Towing.

Miller and his wife Christina have five children, all of whom attend Jennings County schools.

His passion was being a husband and father, according to information obtained from his obituary. “He loved chasing his kids with their activities and being the team dad. From chasing cows to archery team set up, helping his son work on cars for school, to being the dance dad for all the girls at Shea Dance Studio. When he wasn’t helping do those things; you could find him outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, or manning the grill for family and friends. His favorite person in his life was his wife.”

Funeral services were handled by Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
