Alpha Omega chapter of Psi Iota Xi met Monday, April 4 at the Jennings Community Foundation Office. For the anniversary celebration, 18 members and six guests had a delicious meal catered by Dana Ochs.
Billy and Sinda Sergent of Paris Crossing recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family at The Pines Restaurant in Madison. The couple eloped March 11, 1956. Mr. Sergent, a military veteran, retired from Golden Castings in Columbus. He and Mrs. Sergent also had owned and operated Sergent's General Store in Paris Crossing. The couple also farmed together their 80-acre farm. The couple attends Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Barton of North Vernon recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner given by their sons. Mr. Barton and the former Della Young were married March 16, 1956. Attending the dinner were their maid of honor Jane Hamblen and the best man, Bill Sims. Mr. and Mrs. Barton are retired. It was 7 a.m. February 11, 1991 that Ruth (Coombs) Pilarski received a wake up call for the rest of her life. Twenty minutes later, she and her daughter Cheryl left their home in North Vernon speeding en route to the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis where she became the 66th person to receive a heart transplant at the facility. Today, she is celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the operation which Ruth looks back upon with mixed emotions of thanksgiving and gratitude. Wednesday, February 10, 2016
Mr. and Mrs. George Kreutzjans will celebrate their wedding anniversary February 14 with a dinner with their family. Mr. Kreutzjans and the former Mary E. Andreu were married February 14, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa, FL. Rev. Francis Kness officiated the ceremony. Mr. Kreutzjans is a retired farmer and a member of St. Anne's Church. Eric and Susan Jarboe of North Vernon celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary cruising down the Rhine River on the Viking Kara from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Susan Van Poucker married Eric Wayne Jarboe on July 12, 1975, in Belleville, Michigan, in the home church of Eric's late grandfather, Oscar Schulert. An impetus for the cruise was a retirement gift to Eric from the 2013-2014 Jennings County High School Orchestra. Both Eric and Susan Jarboe are retired JCHS teachers. Accompanying the Jarboes on the cruise were family and friends from California, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Georgia. Wednesday, February 3, 2016
