A non-partisan swearing-in ceremony for all newly elected and re-elected office holders will be held Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve) at 10 a.m. in the Jennings Circuit Court Courtroom on the second floor of the Jennings County Courthouse.
When entering the courthouse on New Year's Eve, enter through the west doors by the flagpole. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
Officeholders, family, friends, and guests are invited to this brief ceremony. All office holders should take an oath and have a written oath on file in their office and the Clerk's office. Certain state level office holders must also file their oath with the Indiana Secretary of State.
Those officeholders who have been re-elected to the same office need not be re-sworn but are welcome to attend and be re-sworn if they wish.
If you plan to attend, call the Jennings Circuit Court at 812-352-3082 so a written oath can be prepared for you prior to the ceremony. If you have been provided a written oath, bring it to the ceremony. The ceremony lasts about 30 minutes.
