Landon Taylor Jenkins appeared in court last week for a hearing to fix bond. Jenkins, charged with 7 charges of child molesting and rape, said he would stay with his mother if released, and find a job. He said he had no money for bail. Citing his past history of felony charges as well as probation violations, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Drew Dickerson asked that bond be set at $250,000. Transport Officer Evan Ponsler testified about a comment that "really concerned me." In taking him back to Jefferson County Jail, the defendant asked Ponsler what whould happen if he tried to escape. Jenkins' court ap-pointed attorney argued "there is no bond my client can afford" and that he is presumed innocent until found guilty. In the end, the judge set bond at $100,000 or $10,000 cash.
