8/18/2014 1:31:00 PM New deadline for Jennings' Victorian to get fixed up
The Jennings Circuit Court has ruled in favor of the Area Plan Commission in two recent cases. The first involved Robert and Mary Ann Schuck who own 305 South Jennings Street in North Vernon. The home is the large Victorian on the corner of Jennings and Vernon Street which was once considered one of the loveliest homes in the city. The two were ordered to repair the damaged south exterior wall of their home; fully repair the front porch; and to replace the roof on or before Oct. 31. The matter is set for further hearing on Nov. 21 at 8:30 a.m. to consider any other remedies should the Schucks fail to comply with the court order. In the second case, Superior Court Judge Gary Smith has ordered Terry Sue Surface, 5001 Eastwood Way, Anderson to appear in court Sept. 15 . The judge wants her to explain why she failed to comply with his order to demolish her house and garage at 3130 East CR 200 N. North Vernon. This clean-up was to be accomplished on or before May 31, 2013. Surface must explain why she should not be punished for contempt of court by failing/refusing to follow the court's order.
