All arrested on Jan. 6 after Jennings County police and Indiana State Parole Officers joined efforts to apprehend David Kriete, who was wanted on an Offender Retake Warrant.
The other four subjects were caught with Kriete inside his residence in CSL where illegal drugs and paraphernalia were located.
Arresting Deputy was Deputy Ian McPherson assisted by Deputy Tyler Boswell, Indiana State Parole Agents and Jennings County Sheriff's Office Detective Division.
Terry Day Joshua Hartwell:
Arrested on Jan. 8 after subjects fled in vehicle from Sergeant Doug Brown during an attempted pullover for a traffic infraction.
Deputy Garrett Hoppock intercepted the vehicle and Day, the driver, and Hartwell were arrested. A loaded handgun, 10 grams of meth and a small amount of marijuana were located in the vehicle.
Smanatha Erwin Steven D. Robbins:
Arrested on Jan. 5 after deputies were tipped off that Robbins, wanted on an outstanding Felony Arrest Warrant in Ripley County, was spotted in a vehicle moving from Butlerville to North Vernon.
Deputies located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop, observing Robbins putting something in his mouth and swallowing.
It was determined Robbins had swallowed over a half gram of heroin and taken to Ascension St. Vincent for treatment.
Erwin, who was also in the vehicle, was taken into custody for possession of meth.
Cheryl Scott Bruce Martin Katherine Hadley:
Arrested on Jan. 5 after a traffic stop, conducted by Sergeant Cody Low, lead to further investigan when the driver admitted to not having a valid license. Low's Canine partner, Axel, conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search yielded several syringes, paraphernalia, pills, and approximately 10 grams of meth.
Ricky McLaughlin:
Arrested on Jan. 9 after Deputy Thomas Mellencamp invesitgated a burglary that took place on Jan. 5.
Deputy Kyle Lee responded to a homeowner who reported their garage had been broken into and approximately $2,000 worth of tools had been stolen along with damage sustained to the vehicle parked inside the garage. The homeowner contacted Deputy Mellencamp when he located several of the items on Facebook Marketplace.
Familiar with subject through a previous investigation, Mellencamp made contact with McLaughlin which lead to the recovery of the stolen items and McLaughlin's arrest.
Dustin Decker Keisha Philpot:
Arrested on Jan. 9 after deputies responded to a report of someone being inside a CSL residence without permission. The residents caught the intruders who fled before deputies arrived. All their belongings had been gone through. Armed with detailed descriptions of the intruders, deputies searched the area and located Decker and Philpot, matching the descriptions.
Syringes, half a gram of meth and a BB handgun were located on Decker.
Terry Trowbridge:
Arrested on Jan. 9 after Sergeant Cody Low attempted a traffic stop for a speeding violation. The driver, Trowbridge, failed to yield and increased his speed in order to elude officers.
Sgt. Low pursued, reaching speeds close to 100 mph, for seven miles before Trowbridge surrendered, coming to a stop.
Further investigation revealed that Trowbridge is a current Habitual Traffic Violator.
