Positives seen in 49-29 loss opening night loss
Friday night's season opener for the Jennings County High School football team may not have ended the way they wanted, but they were able to find some positives to take away from the field.
The JCHS squad fell 49-24 to the Batesville Bulldogs. A big positive coming from the game was the scoring by the Panthers, considering this was the first game they had played with their new offensive strategy.
The Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead in the first period. The Panthers came back and started the second quarter with a three-yard touchdown run by James Colina. Dylan Boswell scored a PAT to put the score at 14-7.

There's a reason so stop being negative
And we have another season started and already the negative nonsense has started.
There's nothing that makes me more mad than hearing people talk about how stupid sports are and why are kids even involved in them. I mean, really, you actually don't see the benefits?

MEET THE JCHS FOOTBALL TEAM
The Jennings County High School football team will be kicking off their 2017 season on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Batesville High School.
Head coach Rick Zimmerman says the key to this season is a good start against the Bulldogs.
"Its important we have success against Batesville and Greensburg," Zimmerman noted. "They are teams we can compete (against) and that way we can get off to a good start, especially with the Hoosier Hills Conference as good as they all are this year."
The HHC will be one of the strongest in the state this football season. Columbus East will return a strong squad as they have for the past several years.
Zimmerman thinks that Floyd Central will be the next best school this season.
"If anyone has a chance to beat East they are the ones that, physically, have the chance," Zimmerman said. "Seymour has a lot of seniors back and a four-year starter at quarterback. They also have a new head coach."

Summer's leaving, fall sports are blooming
I was walking around my yard last Friday and it hit me- a lot of my flowers are ready to go to bed for the winter.
It was a bit depressing, I will admit. Then I realized something else. If my flowers are getting ready to go dormant it could only mean one thing: fall sports are getting ready to bloom.
