Lane Sawyer wins diving sectional
After winter weather interrupted the normal schedule, the Jennings County High School boys swim team traveled to Highland Hills Middle School Monday evening to compete in the 2015 IHSAA Floyd Central sectional.
The team swam the sectional preliminary round Thursday evening and had prepared to swim the sectional finals round on Saturday, but due to inclement road conditions, the final round was moved to Monday evening.
When all the swimming and diving had finished, Jeffersonville had claimed the sectional title for the fifth straight year, scoring 432 points. Following in second place was Floyd Central, scoring 397. Third place went to Seymour, with 310 points, and JCHS placed fourth tallying 255 points.

Panthers practice their skills in win over Cougars
The Jennings County High School boys basketball team used their game Tuesday night against South Decatur High School to work on fine-tuning areas where they have struggled this season.
That fine-tuning is in preparation for next week's IHSAA sectional. The Panthers won against the Cougars Tuesday by a score of 78-41.
The game began with the Panthers scoring within 20 seconds of the tip-off and the visiting Cougars immediately took the ball down the court for their own bucket. Then, the scoring became very lopsided as the Panthers went on a 11-point run before Spencer Burkhead found the goal from beyond the net and set the score at 13-5. The quarter ended with JCHS ahead 15-7.

Herrin, Redmond 8th in state
From the time they sat down in the limousine for their ride to Indianapolis until they walked off the mat at Banker's Life Fieldhouse, the three Jennings County HIgh School wrestlers lived a dream.
"Their" dream, we should say. Andrew Herrin, Christian Redmond and Brendan Sutton each earned a trip to the state finals after finishing in at least the top four at last weekend's Evansville semi-state.
First onto the mat late Friday afternoon was Herrin wrestling at the 145 weight class. The semi-state champion took on Daylan Schurg of Crown Point. Herrin won his opening round by a 7-1 decision and earned a return trip to Indianapolis on Saturday. In his first round on Saturday, Herrin faced Evan Smiley of Beech Grove. It took three overtimes before Smile was able to win the match by a score of 5-4. Herrin wrestled Blake Jourdan of Evansville Mater Dei in the consolation round and fell 11-3. This gave Herrin eighth place in his class.
