Bring back Muscatatuck Country Club golf course
Dear Editor,
This is not a letter to the editor. It is a letter to our community!
I grew up in North Vernon when it was a thriving, happy and welcoming place.

Be extra careful on detour
Dear Editor,
I want to alert everyone who hasn't driven on it yet about the detour caused by construction of the roundabout on the west end of the bypass.

Veteran takes strong stand for Obama, Clinton
Dear Editor,
I want to address something that was told to me. A man stated to me that Mrs. Clinton and the former president, Mr. Obama, needed to be shot or run out of the country. I strongly disagree. Mr. Obama did a very good job while in office. Mrs. Clinton would have done a good job also!

Bakers' granddaughter happy to see house saved
Dear Editor,
I am so very happy to hear that this wonderful home is going to be saved. (Re: "APC OKs giving Indiana Landmarks chance to save historic home," Plain Dealer, April 5.)

Kudos to NVE, not JCSC
Dear Editor,
I am very proud of North Vernon Elementary School and the North Vernon community for pulling together for this. (Re: "NVE wins playground grant," Plain Dealer, March 22.)

God, truth and politicians
Dear Editor,
I appreciate the courteous response from "Sleepless" ("Alligators in the swamp," March 22) to my letter to the editor. I believe we could be friends.

Jobs and drug tests
Dear Editor,
I am writing to make an observation after seeing the question from "Jess Wundren" in last week's Plain Dealer.
Tell Jess that the people without jobs don't want to take drug tests.

Don't breach lease on climbing gym
Dear Editor,
I started working for the Jennings County Parks and Recreation Department (JCPR) in mid-1991. I moved to the Muscatatuck Park facility at the end of the year. During that summer I had taken my college dorm loft/climbing structure and built a larger structure in my father's back yard in Columbus

God's button is bigger than Trump's
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the letter to the editor by Millie B. ("So much divisiveness") in the March 15 Plain Dealer.
I can see now that you are against people of color. God made us all in his image. Native Americans were here in our country first, not you or should I say the whites. We are all immigrants.

Sad display among GOP candidates
Dear Editor,
I went last Saturday to the Republican Party's greet and meet in North Vernon. It was not what I expected. It was the biggest load of horse manure that I've ever heard!
U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, who is running for U.S. Senate, praised Trump and ran down Mrs. Clinton's name something bad. A spokesperson for U.S. Rep. Luke Messer, another Senate candidate, did the same.

Trump gives us new hope
Dear Editor,
We now have hope.
This is in response to the letter to the editor entitled "Protect this great country" that appeared in the Plain Dealer on March 8. The writer of that letter was not only critical of President Trump but also disrespectful of those of us who voted for him.

Story of oil well at Tunnel Mill intrigues reader
Dear Editor,
The article "Nature lovers' paradise" (March 3) caused my interest to rise.
The Plain Dealer of May 16, 2002, published an article by Hellen Ochs about an attempt to bore an oil well at Tunnel Mill in 1863. Gallus Kerchner (Kirchner) was involved.

Alligators in the swamp
Dear Editor,
Thank you so much, letter writer of "Prayers of all in authority" (March 15), which gives me purpose to write my second letter as I did not want my first letter to be too long. So thank you.
I begin by saying, once again, why I did not vote for the president.

Prayers for all in authority
My heart goes out to "Sleepless in North Vernon" (March 8). Hope you're sleeping better.
I remember that our country has survived:

So much divisiveness
What is happening to this country with so much diviseness is making me sick. When did we become left wing or right wing with no middle?
Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Protect this great country
Dear Editor,
My letter is in response to the people who send in letters defending the president of the United States. I just cannot stand by any longer without expressing my feelings in regard to the people who make these excuses why they voted for him.

We do not need a $40M jail
Dear Editor,
I have been following the articles in the paper regarding the Jennings County Jail controversy for several months.

Roadside trash disgusting
Dear Editor,
I live in Spencer Township. The trash and litter on the stretch of O&M Avenue (also known as County Road 150 North and CR 175N) west of the bypass is disgusting.

Pen is mightier than sword
Dear Editor,
I am addressing the problem of gun control from both sides of the picture.
