Let whiners house illegals
Dear Editor,

The Jan. 31 issued of the Plain Dealer had a letter to the editor from Amy Schwering that was very negative of President Trump for wanting a wall built. She suggests that he should pay for it and all of the Republicans who want a wall should help pay.

Simple gifts send message
Dear Editor,

I am writing to thank North Vernon area residents for sharing the true meaning of Christmas with children in need this past holiday season.

Because of the generosity of donors in North Vernon and across the United States, Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, collected more than 8.8 million shoeboxes in 2018. Combined with those collected from partnering countries in 2018, the ministry is now sending more than 10.6 million shoebox gifts to children suffering from poverty, natural disasters, war, disease and famine.

JC Election Board corrects misinformation given to Sun
(Editor's note: Incorrect information was reported to The Sun on the filing of state-mandated campaign finance reports. Thus, incorrect information was published about the "Committee to beat gary." The Jan. 29 Sun article included the information that Ben Nigliazzo was a contributor to the committee. That was true, but to further clarify, Nigliazzo did nothing wrong in regards to this committee and its filings.)

The whole world is laughing
Dear Editor,

Philip Hammersley makes clear in his letter to the editor in the Jan. 17 Plain Dealer that he does not practice factual research. He repeats 10-year-old propaganda first told by U.S. Rep. Steve King of Iowa. King's racist beliefs concerning immigration are as sad as his homophobia and his ignorance about cannabis.

Let the wall-less mayhem begin
Dear Editor,

Why was the caravan stupid enough to walk 4,000 miles to a small area of our border that has a wall? Why didn't they walk to many, many other areas of the border where there is no wall? Incompetent human traffickers led them, I guess.

Isn't this man supposed to be our president?
Dear Editor,

Here we were for over three weeks during the government shutdown, waiting for a man who is supposed to be president of our country.

To me he is a man who just thinks about himself, not the people that work for him and all those governments workers who are not getting paid. We should take all his money and put him on the street to live to let him know what it's like

Boycott the Senior Center
Dear Editor,

Re: "Former senior center director sues," The Sun, Jan. 15.

I think in support of Ruth Bosch, people should boycott the Senior Resource Center.

NRA supporter: I would vote for Hamilton today
Dear Editor,

Thank you very much for publishing the photograph from 1994 of then-Congressman Lee Hamilton with me and the late Bob Dorsett and young Bob Dorsett III ("25 Years Ago and Longer," Plain Dealer, Jan. 17) and for the story that accompanied the photo. It brought back many very pleasant memories of my old friend.

Left-wing media continues to fan the political flames
Dear Editor,

Isn't it amazing how the left-wing media salivates like a rabid dog at even the hint of a morsel of drama or controversy that can make our president, or conservatives look bad? No wonder they are now commonly, and accurately known as "fake news."

Better late than never
Dear Editor,

On Thursday, Jan. 17, I received in the mail three editions of the Plain Dealer and The Sun - the Jan. 3 and Jan. 10 issues of the Plain Dealer and the Jan. 8 issue of The Sun.

Amid the alien corn in the Heartland
Dear Editor,

'Amid the Alien Corn'

Some "firsts" never fade from our memory.

In 1959, the first assigned book to read in English Composition 101 at Purdue University was "Amid the Alien Corn," written by a British graduate student during his Purdue experience, Hugh Willoughby.

Good luck getting a message to Sen. Braun
Dear Editor,

It takes great persistence to leave a telephone message with our newest U.S. Senator in Indiana, Mike Braun.

Wall will keep country safe
Dear Editor,

Kate doesn't want the wall on the Southern border. But Kate has security she pays for on her property to keep her safe.

President Trump and his supporters want to keep our country secure and safe with a wall.

Stop illegal immigrants from pouring into USA
Dear Editor,

It's amazing that some people live in an alternate universe and don't seem to know it.

We have thousands of people being killed by illegal aliens, others raped, robbed, their houses vandalized and burgled, but this is "not an emergency."
