Another giant is stumbling
Dear Editor,

Another giant is stumbling. On the news recently have been stories on the downsizing of major stores and businesses.

Now who are the baby killers?
Dear Editor,

It is disappointing that the mainstream news gave little coverage of the vote in the U.S. Senate to protect infants born alive, even if it was an abortion procedure.

Animal abusers are cowards
Dear Editor,

A horrific discovery was recently made in Jennings County: Twelve dogs and puppies, shot and beaten to death, and dumped in a wooded area. (See story on page 1A). It is imperative that whoever killed these dogs be quickly apprehended and, if convicted, given a strong sentence that includes incarceration, psychiatric intervention and a ban on contact with animals.

Calling names, spewing hate are not debate skills
Dear Editor,

Last week, "Hatt Morstman" inferred I was a racist ( letter to the editor, "Stop drinking the Kool-Aid," Feb. 21). That is laughable. In order to be a racist, one would have to be brain dead or would need beaten to death with a golf club.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst
Dear Editor,
Kisses to the person who replied to my recent opinion about socialism ("Readers' kisses and hisses," Feb. 28).

ARC proud to support, serve county's disabled
Dear Editor,

March is disability awareness month. This is a good time to share that The ARC of Jennings County is proud to be part of the disability community in Jennings County through the supports, services and advocacy we have provided to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

County's covered bridges should be on National Register of Historic Places
Dear Editor,

We saw your "kisses" to Ripley County for working to save three historic bridges and working to get them on the National Register of Historic Places (Feb. 28).

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid
Dear Editor,

Brad Hendricks is one of my favorite people in all the world. But you need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

Tired of endless cycle of political propaganda
Dear Editor,

After watching and reading recent news reports, it is unbelievable we are 20 months away from the next presidential election and we are already flooded with more self-centered and self-important candidates vying for the position than we can count.

Turning on creativity while growing up in Jennings
Dear Editor,

I stopped reading the New York Times newspaper many years ago as a result of a perfect storm.

My abandonment of "The Gray Lady" was primarily because of the increasingly hard left editorial position on such issues as abortion, national security, gun control, Israel and global warming.

The secondary reason was the disappearance of the "Newspaper of Record" from the Shawnee, Okla., area.

Let whiners house illegals
Dear Editor,

The Jan. 31 issued of the Plain Dealer had a letter to the editor from Amy Schwering that was very negative of President Trump for wanting a wall built. She suggests that he should pay for it and all of the Republicans who want a wall should help pay.

Simple gifts send message
Dear Editor,

I am writing to thank North Vernon area residents for sharing the true meaning of Christmas with children in need this past holiday season.

Because of the generosity of donors in North Vernon and across the United States, Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, collected more than 8.8 million shoeboxes in 2018. Combined with those collected from partnering countries in 2018, the ministry is now sending more than 10.6 million shoebox gifts to children suffering from poverty, natural disasters, war, disease and famine.

JC Election Board corrects misinformation given to Sun
(Editor's note: Incorrect information was reported to The Sun on the filing of state-mandated campaign finance reports. Thus, incorrect information was published about the "Committee to beat gary." The Jan. 29 Sun article included the information that Ben Nigliazzo was a contributor to the committee. That was true, but to further clarify, Nigliazzo did nothing wrong in regards to this committee and its filings.)

The whole world is laughing
Dear Editor,

Philip Hammersley makes clear in his letter to the editor in the Jan. 17 Plain Dealer that he does not practice factual research. He repeats 10-year-old propaganda first told by U.S. Rep. Steve King of Iowa. King's racist beliefs concerning immigration are as sad as his homophobia and his ignorance about cannabis.

Let the wall-less mayhem begin
Dear Editor,

Why was the caravan stupid enough to walk 4,000 miles to a small area of our border that has a wall? Why didn't they walk to many, many other areas of the border where there is no wall? Incompetent human traffickers led them, I guess.

What is the moral to this story about a snowman?
Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Isn't this man supposed to be our president?
Dear Editor,

Here we were for over three weeks during the government shutdown, waiting for a man who is supposed to be president of our country.

To me he is a man who just thinks about himself, not the people that work for him and all those governments workers who are not getting paid. We should take all his money and put him on the street to live to let him know what it's like

Boycott the Senior Center
Dear Editor,

Re: "Former senior center director sues," The Sun, Jan. 15.

I think in support of Ruth Bosch, people should boycott the Senior Resource Center.

NRA supporter: I would vote for Hamilton today
Dear Editor,

Thank you very much for publishing the photograph from 1994 of then-Congressman Lee Hamilton with me and the late Bob Dorsett and young Bob Dorsett III ("25 Years Ago and Longer," Plain Dealer, Jan. 17) and for the story that accompanied the photo. It brought back many very pleasant memories of my old friend.
