Attention Trump haters
Dear Editor,

I have yet to meet even one Trump hater who can intelligently articulate why they hate him and/or how he has damaged their life and family thus far using metrics, data and trends versus name calling and punching people in the face just for wanting America to be great.

Appalled by VSO's firing
Dear Editor,

This is an open letter to all citizens of Jennings County.

I read about the firing of Nolan Stanley as the county's veterans service officer (Plain Dealer, Jan. 9). I am appalled at the way he was treated. It seems he is guilty until proven innocent. It is close to how the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives are treating the president with the impeachment proceedings.

History records the truth
Dear Editor,

In the Dec. 19 Plain Dealer, the letter-to-the-editor writer proved he knows nothing about the truth. (Re: "Joe Biden is the one who should be impeached.")

He and the writer of the Dec. 12 letter to the editor (re: "Even 'far-left rags' agree on Ukrainian interference") always try to tell us what a great job Trump is doing both here and abroad. They continue to show us how illegitimate their knowledge really is.

A plant-based New Year's resolution
Dear Editor,

The end-of-year Christmas and New Year holidays seem to whiplash us from one extreme to the other: eat, drink and be merry vs. the customary New Year's resolutions: reduce social media, reduce weight and embrace a plant-based diet!

Why do people believe crazy conspiracy theories?
Dear Editor,

The letter to the editor in the Dec. 12 Plain Dealer (re: "Even 'far-left rags' agree on Ukrainian interference") was exactly like the rest of the writer's letters - completely devoid of the truth. Nothing he writes has any factual basis. We call those lies. But he did tell us why he seems to know what he's talking about.

President helps the rich
Dear Editor,

I am worried about the president, his staff in the White House and our country.

I have never seen a president ask for political help from another country until now. The White House needs to think about what is happening in Ukraine.

We couldn't find a better president than Trump
Dear Editor,

Who is calling who a goat? (Re: "The main ingredient that we are sorely missing," Dec. 26.) You and others who always write stupid stuff in your letters to the editor must be related.

Nobody in their right minds could find a better president than Trump. Disrespecting people who support him shows your mental status.

Navy veteran: VA provides excellent health care
Dear Editor,

I read Matt Horstman's letter to the editor with great interest (re: "The main ingredient that we are sorely missing," Dec. 26).

I am a veteran (Navy 1971-81) who has been in the VA healthcare system for many years. The VA is NOT a place to go and die. While there are a number of things that could be improved, the VA provides excellent care and the personnel are very caring people.

New Year's resolution: finding an inner peace
Dear Editor,

A new year and another new beginning. A time for resolutions and vows to live and do better than last year. I'm not one to make resolutions and promises that sound nice in theory only to forget them a week later.

The main ingredient that we are sorely missing
Dear Editor,

Well, here we go again. There have been a couple of reasons why I quit writing to the newspaper.

My youngest son was diagnosed several months ago with leukemia. Obviously it has consumed me entirely. We caught it early so the prognosis is really positive.

On the home front in NV during World War II
Dear Editor,

I remember World War II on the home front when I was a little girl in North Vernon.

My mother, Helen Miles, worked the second shift, 3 to 11 p.m., at the old Regal Rugs factory. The factory was located across North Jackson Street from Hallawell's Feed Store.

It's a blue Christmas without bluegrass music
Dear Editor,

Hisses, and big hisses, to all the radio stations around here that aren't playing bluegrass Christmas music.

Consider driving like an astronaut
Dear Editor,

Once upon a time there was an astronaut. He flew the X-15 rocket plane to space and also to hypersonic speeds. This astronaut also commanded two flights of the Space Shuttle.

Joe Biden is the one who should be impeached
Dear Editor,

Joe Biden extorted Ukraine of its foreign aid unless they agreed to quit investigating his son Hunter Biden - quid - with Ukraine agreeing to do so and firing the attorney investigating Biden - pro - thereby receiving their money -quo. This is absolute proof of extortion, as Biden then bragged about it on television! This was all in the self interest of the Bidens - not policy, national security, taxpayers or America. This was an obvious abuse of power in self-interest versus country! Where is the outrage? Why wasn't Biden impeached?

Even 'far-left rags' agree on Ukrainian interference
Dear Editor,

It seems that our esteemed editor is still busily shoveling donkey excrement. He has given two issues highlighting what he calls the debunked Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election. This delusion just has a couple of problems.

Veterans need to unite
Dear Editor,

Commissioners, it seems that once again you have picked a target to work on.

We must forgive all who wronged us, even Trump
Dear Editor,

This is for the people who don't know how to say anything nice about anything or anyone. For those who won't say anything nice, shut up.
Ever since Trump got in the White House, all I hear is griping about this or that. Most of the ones who are griping are the Republicans. Let me tell you one thing: Those words, "Democrats" and "Republicans," are just titles.

Old and enjoyable 'tidbits'
Dear Editor,
Here are four more interesting tidbits from that old autograph book.

1. Don't it make you mad / don't it get your goat / when you're in the bathtub / and find you're out of soap?

Motorists, be prepared for Buckeye Street challenge
Dear Editor,

Re: "Buckeye Street finally reopens after long delay," The Sun, Nov. 19.

Worst sub-base compaction job ever! A new street should not be this rough!

Teachers deserve our support
Dear Editor,
I am fairly old and rather opinionated, I have been told. Yet I endeavor to be a moderate voice at a time often of extreme views on many diverse politically hot subjects.
