Now there's a midway
For years and years, the midway has been problematic at the Jennings County Fair.
Complaints have rained down on the county fair board. The carnival rides are too dated. There are not enough rides for the youngest children.

Sears sadness
For six decades, one retail location has more or less been the anchor store for downtown North Vernon.
The sad, sad news is that the Sears Hometown Store on East Walnut Street is closing next month. Even sadder, there is no replacement store on the horizon.

That's why it was so encouraging to see the historic face-to-face talks underway between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore this week, especially after all the dangerous rhetoric exchanged between the two previously.
