Jennings County's voters have spoken, and they made their voices loud and clear on Election Day 2018. Of the 10 contested races for county offices, only one was determined by less than a double-digit percentage margin. There the Republican Party candidate for sheriff, Kenny Freeman, edged Democratic incumbent Gary Driver by 2.5 percent, a total of only 232 votes. Wednesday, November 14, 2018
The proposed new Jennings County Jail is "on hold" after State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) informed county officials he is drafting a bill that could help ease jail overcrowding. Officials believe the legislation might even be enough to enable the county to get by without building a jail.
The verdict is in from the federal government. Now it is up to the voters to render their decision that will ultimately determine who will be the next person to hold the important Jennings County government position of Clerk of Courts.
