The Jennings County Council adopted the Local Option Income Tax, now called Local Income Tax (LIT), four years ago for two extremely important reasons. With property tax rates capped by an amendment to the Indiana Constitution, the county simply needed more revenue to operate its government agencies and provide services to residents. Few if any issues have polarized people in the North Vernon area as the question as to whether or not to save the historic Cone-Schuck house at 305 South Jennings Street. Oh, the pain of road construction. Over the past few years, the North Vernon area has been dealing with a great deal of the inconvenience, traffic delays and, yes, even the turmoil that comes with major road work projects.
March is undoubtedly the most fickle of all months when it comes to weather. The transition from winter to spring can be rocky. This year has been no exception in the Jennings County area.
