Dear Editor, This is in answer to William Sons' letter to the editor in which he called the elected president of our nation and his staff names. (Re: "Cruel and stupid people," Jan. 4.)
Cooperation between local governmental units is essential. That may be even more essential when it comes to Jennings County and North Vernon. These two bodies obviously need to have a strong partnership.

Unborn babies also suffer
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the letter to the editor (Dec. 21) about the Trump administration's ruling on "USDA organic" labels for meat.

There are still issues to be resolved with a proposal for a new handicap-accessible entrance that some fear could compromise the historical integrity of the 160-year-old structure's architecture. There is hope that a way can be found to satisfy both the preservation of history American with Disabilities Act.

Public defender agency proposal deserves study
The money spent on public defenders is a drain on government. That is unavoidable. After all, the U.S. Constitution guarantees that all people charged with a crime will receive legal representation in the court of law - including those who can't afford it.

Give thanks, help others
To many, Thanksgiving is merely a warmup for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. To others, Thanksgiving is all about food.
This November holiday should be more than that, however. It is about getting together with family and loved ones, friends and neighbors, and giving thanks for our blessings.

Dynamic vision for park
Green space is a valuable commodity in an urban environment, even one as small as the City of North Vernon's. Recreational space is even more valuable. Combine the two and add attractive amenities for the public and it makes for an almost priceless setup.
