Some poeple may feel that the response here in the United States, and especially in Indiana, to the coronavirus pandemic has been unnecessarily extreme.

Only time will tell if the restrictions being put in place nationwide in response to the rapid spread of the coronavirus are more than what was required to "flatten the curve."

The coronavirus pandemic is a threat to each and every one of us, including in Jennings County where, at this writing, there have been two positive cases confirmed so far.

Prioritizing public safety
What a difference from a couple of years ago.

Last week, the Jennings County Council voted unanimously to appropriate $100,000 for the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department's new fire station.

Clearly, public safety has to be a top priority for our elected officials. A fire station to house the expensive firefighting equipment and provide space for emergency training is vital to public safety.
