The King family, who moved to North Vernon in 1954 to operate the two local newspapers, have sold the company to privately held Paxton who owns numerous daily and weekly papers across Kentucky, Indiana and the southern U.S.

The story below as written by Melanie Tucker of The Daily Times in Blount County, Tennessee about former resident Laurie Boyd, a 1978 graduate of JCHS who grew up in Hayden. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Gordon Boyd, who was raised in Butlerville and has many relatives here in Jennings. Laurie has a sister, Penny Wingate of Elizabethtown and Amy Young of Indy. Gordon has brothers Marshal, Wesley and Andrew living here in JC as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The couple has three grown children and six grandchildren and celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in October.
Experiencing life on the sidelines was never the life Laurie Boyd pictured for herself.
The 60-year-old resident of Friendsville, a wife of 44 years, mother of three and grandmother to six, always preferred being outdoors versus a sedentary state of mind. She is her happiest with grandchildren in tow, calling them "her world."
