Ascension St. Vincent has updated temporary visitor restrictions at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon and all hospitals in its network across the state to limit the spread of viral respiratory infections.
No visitors are allowed at the hospitals outside of some very limited exceptions.
"Given the rapidly evolving situation related to COVID-19, the visitor restrictions apply to all Emergency Departments in all Ascension St. Vincent hospitals," said Danielle Eagleson of Ascension St. Vincent.
No visitors are now allowed at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, though exceptions may be made for one visitor for end-of-life and other compassionate situations. All visitors must be at least 18 years of age, unless they are an emancipated minor, the parent of a patient or other case-by-case exceptions.
No visitors are allowed in any Ascension St. Vincent Emergency Department, including at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. One parent or guardian may accompany any pediatric patient, and other compassionate exceptions may be made.
"This temporary restriction will assist in limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus, ensuring that we are best equipped to provide exceptional care to our patients," Eagleson said. "We will continue to monitor state and national recommendations and lift the restriction in the emergency departments as soon as it is safe to do so."
