The General Election in Nov. 2020 brought no new faces to the Jennings County School Board with uncontested incumbents Earl Taggart and Pat Sullivan elected for another term. Chelsea Morrison, who was contested, is also returning to the school board, this time for a full term after being selected to fulfill Warren Lucas' term. All three were sworn in last week.
At the first board meeting of 2021 on Jan. 7, members approved nominations for board officials. Pat Sullivan was re-elected president and Amy Pettit as vice president. Chelsea Morrison was voted secretary, the position previously held by Travis Shepherd.
After a two-week winter break, Jennings County Schools are back in session and so is the School Board of Trustees who met for the first time in 2021 on Thursday, Jan. 7 during a virtual live stream on YouTube.
The gathered school administration had much to discuss after board nominations were completed.
School reopening plans for Jan. 5 did not change despite the Red status. Grades K-6 return to school daily with safety protocols in place since classrooms are able to maintain distancing and keep students in smaller groups.
For at least the first two weeks, grades 7-12 will return following the hybrid schedule to enable social distancing and smaller classes. Wednesday, January 6, 2021
The results matrix for score calculation uses a 5-point system in which the highest score possible to receive is a score of 5. A score of 5 indicates that the school is in the top 20 percent of Local Education Agencies (LEA) in the state.

As a Local Education Agency (LEA), the Jennings County School Corporation was reviewed and has received its scores for its Special Education services. LEA, as defined in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), is a "public board of education or other public authority legally constituted within a State for either administrative control or direction of, or to perform a service function for, public elementary schools or secondary schools in a city, county, township, school district." There are approximately 288 school districts in Indiana.
