Pollinator Week
Over the coming year, well beyond National Pollinator Week, the Plain Dealer & Sun will feature stories that help readers learn about native pollinators.

Learn what butterflies to look for in the garden. Find out about what to plant to attract bees, butterflies and birds to a yard or farm. Learn about native wildflowers that grow in the woods. Find out what local residents can do to help native pollinators.

The Plain Dealer & Sun is partnering with local experts, including biologist and educator Kirsten Carlson and Jennings County Soil and Water Conservation District Executive Director Andy Ertel, and the local conservation group Oak Heritage Conservancy, to help inform our readers and to help our native pollinators.

Frye to chair study committee on public safety, military affairs
Indiana State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) was recently selected to chair the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs.
Frye said in the upcoming months, the committee will examine several assigned topics, including military transition practices, the construction of an injured public safety officer monument and development of an electronic system to streamline veteran services.
"Interim study committees give legislators the opportunity to take a deeper look at some of the most pressing issues Hoosiers face," Frye said. "These meetings are an important part of the lawmaking process, and give us the opportunity to hear from the public and experts in the areas we are studying."

Once he saw this home on Historic Landmarks web site, he "fell in love with the house," and knew his life had taken a western turn to move back to Indiana and begin a whole new life in Dupont.
Hopkins sold his Miami condo, furniture and all, and relocated to Madison to oversee the two-year labor of love renovating the all but covered up and forgotten Levi Butler home, featured on a Historic Landmarks tour last month.
