Child Advocacy Center spreading its wings here in Jennings County
The Southereastern Indiana Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) made quite a few new friends at its first ever public event here in Jennings County last week.
The organization holds an annual "gala" each year to help fund its work and office in Dillsboro. As part of the event, a king and queen from each county the CAC serves is nominated and then competes to see who can raise the most funds.
This year, for the first time, Jennings is represented in the pageant with Kathy Ertel, local EDC director and community activist, and Drew Dickerson, chief deputy for the prosecutor's office, in the running.
The two held a reception/fundraiser Thursday to both raise some funds and to further introduce the CAC to local residents.

Still candidate slots to fill as last day approaches to file for 2016 election
Wanted: Candidates for the 2016 election.
With just days to go until the deadline, there are still spots open for candidates on either side of the political spectrum to file.

Gene Rudicel filed for re-election as coroner on the Republican ticket while Sherri Poling Williams let it be known she plans to run for the county treasurer's job as a Democrat. Current treasurer Sandy Vance is precluded from seeking a third term.
Williams now works for the Sheriff's Department as an administrative clerk. She holds as associate's degree in accounting from Sullivan College in Louisville which, she says, would be a "big asset" for the office.
