Back Lot BBQ is this Friday at city park
The officers and staff of the North Vernon Police Department will host a "Back Lot BBQ" on May 17 in celebration of National Police Week. The community is invited to join the members of the NVPD to enjoy a meal prepared by the officers and their families.

Indiana farmers are among the most productive and efficient in the U.S., according to the latest Census of Agriculture, released yesterday. The census, taken every five years, is the nation's most comprehensive agricultural survey and shows trend data on variety of topics ranging from production to economics to farmer demographics.

Mother Nature hails river sweepers
On a 40-degree Saturday morning in April, 50 members of the Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society met at the Vernon Commons for the 18th year in succession, with the 10 most recent boasting the moniker Kevin's Klean-Up honoring late former president Kevin Jayne. They gathered to rid the river of rubble strewn by less informed or unfortunate souls.
