Making the most of it
Terry Caffee and son Ryder of the Scipio area were making the most of the cold wintry days we've been having by taking their fun outdoors. The hill at the county park, though, proved to be a little too fast for the youngster, so after climbing back up the hill, they decided to take their pursuit of downhill sledding to slower pastures. -Staff Photo by Barbara King

Couple finds opportunity in Jennings with opening of new store, Furniture & Things
A family legacy involving food was not the direction Eric Kimmel wanted to pursue when he decided to open his own business. Instead, Kimmel found that local residents wanted furniture that was reasonably priced and American made.
That discovery led him and his wife, Michelle, to the former Tenn Oaks Furniture store that was closing last year. The couple snapped up the location and opened their very own store, Furniture & Things.
"We were living in Anchorage, Alaska and we came home to see my wife's family, who reside in Madison," Eric explained. "When we heard about this spot we knew that North Vernon and Jennings County needed this type of business."
