No ban on controversial pesticide
The Environmental Protection Agency has decided not to ban chlorpyrifos, a controversial pesticide linked to neurological damage in children. In a Federal Register notice filed recently, the agency rejected a petition from environmental and public-health groups seeking a ban. In rejecting the petition, the EPA echoed its earlier arguments for keeping the pesticide on the market, saying that the data was insufficient to conclude that chlorpyrifos is dangerous, Brady Dennis and Juliet Eilperin report for The Washington Post.

There is a distinct possibility that the Jennings County Veterans Service Officer will be full-time starting Jan. 1, 2020 and that the office will be open Monday through Friday for the convenience of the 2000 or so local veterans.

Upgrades for county highways
Long sections of two major highways in Jen­nings County are getting new pavement. Motorists and their passengers will enjoy the smoother ride when the work is completed but will have to be patient and cope with some delays until then.

Milestone Con­trac­tors crews will begin a $4.1 million asphalt resurface project on a 14-mile section of State Road 7 in Jennings and Bartholomew counties this week.
