Girl Scout shares her opinion as she works toward another badge

Police officer honored for 20-year service
Community members, officials, family, friends and fellow officers filled Elsner Hall at the Education and Training Center located on 1200 W O&M Ave in North Vernon Friday evening on June 19 to honor Officer Todd Fleetwood's retirement after 20 years of service. His wife, Tracy, and his parents, Darrell and Sharon, were also in attendance at the event.

Local military hero honored on Sunday
Approximately 100 Hoosiers gathered together to honor 16 fallen military heroes during the 10th Annual Ride to Remember held on the second weekend in June. One of the heroes commemorated during the event was LCPL Jacky Ray Koenig Jr., a former resident of North Vernon, who was honored at Vernon Cemetery Sunday afternoon June 14.

Assistance awarded to 4 local agencies
Six Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds have been awarded to local agencies to rent assistance, utility assistance, food, served meals and shelter in Jennings County. These funds are appropriated by Congress through FY 2019 and CARES Act funding. This total includes $8,810 for Phase 37 and $12,573 for Phase CARES.
