Bids were opened for "Phase I" of North Vernon's new Tripton Park last week to the applause of city officials and members of its special committee working on what was formerly the Muscatatuck Country Club/Ford's Crossing golf courses.

Playin' in the 'rain'
Well, it really wasn't rain, but rather a huge spray of water compliments of the North Vernon Fire Department. The department brought two trucks to the city park and let loose 2000 gallons of water/minute for 3 hours in an end of summer 'back to school' celebration on Saturday. Since the city park pool was closed all summer, this was a very welcome event that included 200 free hot dogs provided and grilled by NV Kiwanians Bill Ludwig, Carlyle Floyd and Connie Rayburn.

North Vernon will soon become a sanctuary city for abandoned babies, thanks to the haunting memory of Baby Boy Doe, left outside at Christ's Way Church in the late afternoon hours of Sept. 24, 2015.
