Wayside to close for two weeks
The Wayside Inn Homeless Shelter will close for two weeks, from Monday, May 18, to Monday, June 1, to allow for a deep-cleaning of the facility to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All residents who had been sheltering in place at Wayside since March have found other housing.
No one was evicted without having a place to stay, Rusty Warlick, president of the Wayside board, said in a news release.
"We are developing procedures for taking temperatures, rearranging our facility to provide for social distancing, and working with public health officials to determine our course of action if a resident tests positive for COVID 19," he said. "All of these actions will be taken with the health and welfare of the homeless community and our volunteers, first and foremost."
State deadlines extended
Renewal deadlines for drivers licenses, identification cards and vehicle registrations that were set to expire prior to June 4 will remain valid through that date, according to an executive order signed Friday by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb.
The order also extends the Bureau of Motor Vehicles' deadlines for title transactions, salvage titles, and off-road vehicle and snowmobile titles, and allows expiring state-issued professional licenses and permits to remain valid to June 4.
