INDIANA GETS 'BACK ON TRACK'
What's allowed during Stage 2
Despite some restrictions being lifted statewide as of Monday, May 4, Hoosiers 65 and older, or those with high-risk health conditioned are asked to continuing self-quarantine or self-isolation. In all cases, compliance with CDC guidelines is required.
Gatherings of up to 25 people for events such as birthday parties, wedding receptions, Mother's Day gatherings and other events , are now allowed, as long as CDC guidelines for social distancing are maintained.
Retail businesses that have not been considered essential may reopen and operate at 50 percent capacity.
Personal services, such as hair and nail salons, barber shops, spas and tattoo parlors may reopen, but by appointment only. Employees are required to wear face coverings and work stations spaced to meet CDC guidelines. Clients also are to wear face coverings, if possible.
Restaurants and bars that serve food may open to 50 percent capacity on Monday, May 11. Bar seating will remain closed, and live entertainment prohibited.
Religious services, such as weddings, funerals and baptisms, may resume on Friday, May 8, but must be driven by social distancing guidelines, and protections provided for those at high-risk.
Manufacturing and industrial operations that have been shuttered may reopen following OSHA and CDC guidlines.
Pools, playgrounds, gyms and fitness centers, and campgrounds will be allowed to reopen May 24.
In Jennings County
The Jennings County Public Library on Wednesday reopened. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays through May 22. (See page 12A for more information.)
The Jennings County Park Board has reopened the "family" restrooms at Tripton and North Vernon City parks.
Shelterhouse rentals will resume when the state moves to Stage 3 on May 24. At that time, local tennis and pickle ball courts also will reopen.
The board has not determined when the new splash pad and swimming pool at City Park will be opened.
A bright spot: ---Youth-league baseball and softball sign-ups began this week and continue through June 1. Teams will begin holding practices on June 14; games will be scheduled beginning July 4 until about Labor Day.
