Resigns In a letter to the officers and stockholders of the Co-operative Glass Company, written Jan. 13, Thomas P. Finnerty tendered his resignation as president of the company. Mr. Finnerty gave as his only reason the fact that he could not under the present circumstances finance the business in a manner satisfactory to himself or to some of the stockholders. Good showing for NV Lumber Co. The North Vernon Lumber Company has contracted for almost its entire season's manufacture of swings for 1917. From the fact that the bulk of the swing shipments have to go out in a period of about three months, it is necessary to have a very large reserve stock ready for the rush spring shipments, all going out in a period of about three months.
Bank officers elected The North Vernon National Bank elected officers for the ensuing year Tuesday afternoon naming the same officers who have served so proficiently through the year just closed as follows:
Acquitted of murder Gilford Peck (colored), a former resident of this city who shot and killed another negro in an encounter at Indianapolis last fall, was acquitted of the charge of murder in the Johnson county circuit court yesterday. Arthur Siener, Dr. Stemm, J.D. Cone, R.C. Gautier, Dr. Green and Frank Robinson of this city were character witnesses.
Wounded in shooting John Davis, colored, created some excitement last Saturday night when he collapsed on the sidewalk on Fifth Street and told those who came to his assistance that he had been shot. He was placed on a stretcher and taken to Dr. Stemm's office where it was found that his injury was but a flesh wound.
