How to deal with squash and cucumber pests
The pest that challenges most gardeners and their squash is the squash vine borer. I have managed to offset this pest pressure by delaying planting in order to miss peak egg-laying time.

Where are all the rain crows?
I haven't heard a rain crow this spring, yet the call of a rain-crow is a forecast of rain and we've had lots of rain.

New Bethel News
Pastor Connie Barr's June 9 message title at New Bethel U.M.C. was "God's Covenant with Noah" taken from scripture base Genesis 9:12-15, 24-29. "Moral character imparts the family for generations to come. Noah and his sons were blessed by God. Noah had faith and trust in God." Pastor Connie spoke to modern day families and reminded all that what we do now will reflect on future generations. Noah was a farmer and well thought of until he decided to taste the wine one night and was seen by his sons in a drunken state. Sons, Jacob and Sham continued on their good moral path, but Ham went the wrong way, that of the Canaanites who were very immoral people. The thing we must remember is "none are above disobedience," and we must be careful to follow the moral path. We will be blessed in our faithfulness.

Spinosad effective in stopping potato beetles
After the short heat-wave in late May, the blueberries ripened like wildfire, the Colorado potato beetle larva peppered the potato patch and the cabbage worms showed up on my kale. I pick and squish and drown, but so much was happening at once I needed a little assistance.
