My orders for onion sets and seed potatoes will arrive next week and will be planted once the soil dries a bit; my favorite summer crops that will be directly seeded in the garden are still in their seed packets waiting for consistently warm weather before they find purchase in the soil. The fourth commandment tells us that we are to honor our father and our mother and now that we are in a new year I think it would be wise for us to take a moment to reflect upon and ponder these words. What does it mean to honor your father and mother? Taken at face value you might believe that you have kept this command perfectly or at least mostly your entire life but as with all things this command has a deeper meaning that what you might think at first.
Honoring one's parents is merely the first step in keeping the fourth commandment to dig deeper we must recognize and understand that honoring parents means that we honor authority. This command is for both family in the home as well as out in the world.

Spring bulbs will begin popping up everywhere as temperatures roller-coaster from winter to spring. It has been a mild winter so far so we may see our spring bulb display sooner than later!
As long as the bulb and bloom are safe beneath the soil surface and we get sufficient dormancy and chilling time in the ground, all should be in order to bloom well.
Bulbs will do just fine if they are grown in a similar climate to where the species adapted. The timing and amount of rainfall and temperatures have more to do with success and failure than many of us realize. Wednesday, January 27, 2021
