The summer solstice, that time when day and night are of equal length, has passed. Since the solstice, every day has been a few minutes shorter than the day before, every night a few minutes longer. The difference isn't noticeable from one day to the next, but time of sunrise indicates it is so.

Pastor Connie Barr's message title at New Bethel U.M.C. Aug. 11 was "God Empowers and Uses Ordinary People to do Extraordinary Works" taken from scripture base II Samuel, chapter 23:8-13. This was a lesson on David and his mighty followers who were ordinary men empowered by God. We were reminded that good leaders always have someone in training to follow their path. Everyone is a hero to someone, and we all need to help one another. Wednesday, August 14, 2019
