Pastor Connie Barr's March 10 message title at New Bethel United Methodist Church was "Jesus and his Disciples Will be Victorious Over Satan!" The scripture base was Genesis 3:15 and Romans 16:20. This being the first Sunday of Lent, she explained that Lent is a time of prayer and fasting in an opportunity to draw nearer Jesus Christ. It includes alms giving as we focus and give up something of value in honor of Jesus. She discussed good and evil, Adam and Eve in the Garden; explaining this was a time of earning free will from God. We are free to make the choice, but not free from consequence.
