Pastor Connie Barr's message title at New Bethel U.M. Church July 14 was "Jesus is Willing to Heal Us of What is Eating at Us," and the scripture base was Luke 5:12-16. She began by asking, "Is there something you said or did which you wish you could change? Regret happens when, in the moment, you say something or do something which you wish could be erased." Her message was about the leper who was not allowed to touch anyone, nor could they touch him. When he touched Jesus, he was healed. Pastor Connie asked what we would be willing to do in order to get to Jesus. The leper humbled himself before Jesus, reached out and touched, then was healed. Jesus will forgive the unforgivable, love the unlovable, and touch the untouchable. "What are you willing to risk in order to get to Jesus?" Pastor Connie suggests we all mark 1 Peter 24 in our Bibles; also take your want to meet someone's need this week.
It's summer time. The summer solstice, the longest day of the year, the day when day and night are of equal length, has passed. Now every day is a few minutes shorter though the difference is not noticeable from one day to the next.
