Summer blooming trees
You know me better then to recommend trees that everyone already has in every neighbor across our hometowns. How about some new trees in the landscape that bloom in summer?

Clean living in this world's messy muck
Life sure has changed since I was a teenager. Back in my youth, the normal sequence of events was to work hard and when chores were done we would ride our bikes, play basketball, baseball or some other outdoor activity.
Times have changed. In the middle of summer you can now drive around town and see basketball courts empty, and have a hard time even spotting youth outdoors.

New Bethel News
Pastor Connie Barr's Aug. 5 message title was "God Brings Hope to Christians Through the Power of the Holy Spirit" taken from scripture base Romans 15:13. Our hope in Christ brings duties of consideration for one another, learning to serve by doing something for others. We need to be surrounded by love, not criticism. Agree to disagree peacefully. If you have the heart to criticize, you also have the heart to help. Jesus promotes unity.

Avoid stinging caterpillars
This time of the year, I am on the lookout for a variety of masterfully camouflaged stinging caterpillars.
The very first time I saw one, it turned into a game. I took my husband, Andy, down to the parrotia tree and asked him, "Can you find the caterpillar?"

Crows are bad boys of birds
Crows are black feathered bad boys, disliked by farmers and by birders. To the displeasure of farmers they eat corn, pulling up sprouts to get the grains. They also kill and eat chicks. To the displeasure of birders crows raid nests and eat eggs and nestlings of smaller birds.

Minister Plans to Counter KKK Rally
The Ku Klux Klan's plans to hold a recruitment rally in Jennings County on Oct. 15 (1993) has some citizens fighting back.
The Rev. Joe Wyatt isn't going to stand still for the KKK, either. He has announced an organizational meeting Aug. 10 at the United Methodist Church, where he is the pastor.
In addition, the Jennings County Ministerial Association will be out in force supporting an alternate demonstration, according to Wyatt.

'Seek first' in building our spiritual house
There is a profoundly insightful book, three books from the end of the Old Testament, named Haggai. I would encourage you to slowly read the entire book.
For those who do not fancy reading, I have good news. Haggai is just two chapters long.
We learn an insight from 1 Corinthians chapter 10 that Old Testament events can be used to reveal spiritual truth, to teach us, correct us and encourage and inspire us in our Christian journey.
Here is the synopsis of Haggai:
Jewish people who are interested in rebuilding the ransacked temple that King Solomon built are given permission to leave their captivity in Babylon to go back to Jerusalem.
