The day of Easter has come and gone for another year. And for a great many people that is all Easter is, a day. But for the faithful, for us believers, we Christians, Easter is more than just a single day; to us Easter is more than a season of the church year or just a holiday celebrated once out of 365 days. Easter is so important to Christians that it is a day we celebrate each and every Sunday. Did you realize that? Did you know that every Sunday is Easter? Every Sunday when we gather together to worship and our Lord brings his good and gracious gifts to us, we are celebrating Easter. As Christians, when we worship we are doing something special. No, we are not giving God anything that He needs nor are we making some sort of sacrifice. Wednesday, April 18, 2018
Pastor Connie Barr's April 15 message title at New Bethel U.M.C. was "Christians are to Live a Whatever Life!" from scripture base Matthew 21, John 15, and I Corinthians 10. We hear the "whatever" answer many times a day from your youth, but within scripture whatever, from God means "I tell you to do it." Wednesday, April 18, 2018
On a day recently, when I got out of bed and looked out the bedroom window the sky was gray and light rain was falling. The temperature outside was a few degrees above freezing. It looked like another dull, dreary day. I washed, dressed, got bird seed to take out to my bird feeders and stepped outside. And I heard a robin singing.

Jennings County has experienced two terrible tragedies over the last couple of weeks with the loss of Morgan Rhea Gibson followed by Tony Lee Merry III just a few days later. Our prayers continue for their precious parents and families. Romans 12:15 says, "Weep with those who weep." Weeping is more than just crying tears. It is coming alongside of others to grieve and mourn with them. It is demonstrating sympathy and sadness for the ones who are now gone. Our community has done just that to display love and support. It's early morning and I'm at my desk, ready to start writing my next newspaper article. But what do I write about? The blue jay on the bird feeder outside my study window, or the cardinal? The black-caped chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, tufted titmice, tree sparrows and goldfinches that have been flitting back and forth between the trees and bushes in the yard and the feeder?
