Spotting rare birds is special
Yellow-headed blackbirds are rare in Indiana. Yet I saw one in Indiana. It was in the cattails of the marsh on our property. My older daughter spotted it as we were walking around the marsh late one afternoon, a male, a black bird with a yellow head. It was still there the next morning, early.

'His eye is on the sparrow ...
When I was a young child, I lived in a two-family home. My family was on the second floor.
I loved to sit in the front room and listen to the cooing of the doves. Now, I'm an adult and I still love to hear that cooing sound. I hear the doves in early morning and early evening.
It still evokes in me a feeling of peace, tranquility and calm.
That prompted me to think of all the other birds I have seen and heard.
On my vacation in Hawaii, every day you could see the seagulls flying over the ocean. I was in awe of their enormous wing span.
