Pastor Connie Barr's message title at New Bethel U.M.C. Feb. 23 was "Satan Cannot Defeat Jesus" taken from scripture base Luke 13:31-35. "It is hard to remain faithful to God's word in these times. His word does not change; the world does! Envy and jealousy are short roads to destruction. We need to be ready for Christ's coming. We need to find our mission in life. That mission does not change as we do our work for Christ. It helps give us and others hope as we work together. Do not wait, but get out and work for Christ today, and enjoy the hope it instills within us."
Pastor Connie Barr's Feb. 16 message title was "Jesus' Shed Blood Cleanses us from a Guilty Conscience" and her scripture base was Hebrews 10:19-25. After asking us if we have a clear conscious, she said, "the greatest tormentor of the human soul is a guilty conscience." Adam and Eve tried to cover their conscience and body with fig leaves, but we know it takes more than that to alleviate our misery. Most of us need an attitude adjustment with our forgiveness, and need to change our ways of living daily. The shed blood of Christ is our promise of forgiveness in a dedicated Christian life. It's a dark and dreary winter day as I write this. The sky is gray. The temperature is below freezing by our thermometer. There's a cold wind, I found when I went out with our dogs soon after getting up.
