New Bethel News
Pastor Connie Barr's June 17 message at New Bethel U.M.C. was in honor of father's on their special day. She used scripture from Genesis 5:21-24 for a message titled "Men Who Walk with God are Blessed and Are a Blessing". She spoke of Enoch who did not become a father until 65. His father was Methuselah who walked with God and lived a long life. He told his son, "It is not the years, but the life we live walking with the Father."

With your eternity in mind
Recently I did a study through the book of Philippians. While studying, there was one verse that just kept coming back to me.
In Philippians 1:21, Paul writes: "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."
The very concept of the verse is that while I am alive I will be with Christ no matter how challenging things may get at times. And when I die, I will gain even more, since as a Christian I then will be in heaven.
We are wired with this sense of eternity that once this life is over we will spend eternity somewhere. As a Christian, I am convinced that there are only two options for my eternal being: heaven awaits if I accept Christ's forgiveness of my sins and live for him, or hell if I would reject his offer of salvation and live for myself.

Time to begin digging and dividing daffodils
If your daffodils didn't bloom well this year, ask yourself these two questions: did you allow the foliage to die back naturally last summer before you cut it off; and has it been eons since they were last divided?
Patience is a virtue when it comes to daffodils. Often the first color to appear in early spring, their beauty is long awaited.

Repentance is really just a change of mind
You read or hear the word "repent" and it usually strikes us as a little harsh.
We can image the person who is saying it, well, we probably picture them screaming it, eyes focused, brows furrowed, veins bulging - "repent!"
Did you know the word really is not a harsh one? If you look at the original Greek word that we translate into English as "repent," you will discover it simply means to "change your mind".
Upon discovering that the word is gentler, do not allow that to lessen its power, importance or magnitude.
