New Bethel News
Pastor Connie Barr chose scripture from John 6:15-21 for her topic "Faith in Jesus Brings us Victory Over the Storms in our Lives." After feeding the group of 5,000 on the loaf of bread and fish, Jesus went to rest and refill himself in prayer. His disciples gathered in the boat to cross the sea and the storm came up. He was needed to calm the sea and save his followers. "We need to keep our eyes on Jesus instead of the storms of our life. We bring many storms upon ourselves because we do not wait on God. We like to think we are in control and can do as we please. If we would just wait on the Lord's timing, we would not have to call out, "Lord, bless my mess."

New Bethel News
Pastor Connie Barr's Nov. 3 message title at New Bethel United Methodist Church was "Jesus Willingly Sacrificed His Life for us, What are we Willing to Sacrifice for Him and Others?" Taken from scripture base Hebrews 13:11-16. Sacrifice is something we give to others and expect nothing back. Jesus gave His life for us and all we have to do is accept Him into our heart, live for Him and others. Changing our life form "Me to Thee" as we leave our comfortable life to meet others in need seems to be much harder for some than others. Temptations are great in modern day living. "Eliminate those things from your life which drain you and go to Jesus. Live your life in a way that will help others in the next generation. Does your faith have shoe-leather?"

Purple finch is not really purple
I was sitting at my desk one rainy morning a few days ago looking at the bird feeder outside the window behind the desk, trying not to think of the dreary weather. Birds were a great distraction.
