Police court
Omer Snider, aged 22, of Rushville was taken into custody Saturday by Police Chief Schwake charged with unlawfully soliciting aid for local tornado sufferers. He had circulated a paper and had secured subscriptions to the amount of $1.25. When arrested Monday morning, he pleaded guilty and was fined $50 and costs. Being unable to pay the fine, Mayor Cone sent him to the penal farm for 60 days.

Chemicals used
Chemicals were brought into use Tuesday morning to extinguish a burning awning on the Conklin Building. The fire, which was of minor consequences originated from an electric wire.
The fire was discovered by a citizen in passing the building when a piece of the awning fell upon the sidewalk.
