Louis A. Stomps, 96, of Columbus, formerly of North Vernon died at 2:32 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Hickory Creek at Franklin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service was entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Stomps was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and had worked as a printer for Avery Press in Columbus. After his retirement he was a rural mail carrier. Mr. Stomps was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union and a former Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed fishing, kinetic sculpture, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
Born February 27, 1924, in Hamilton, Ohio, Mr. Stomps was the son of Walter and Eva Rose Mallot Stomps. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Gerrard and she preceded him in death April 8, 1981. He later married Sarah Bault and she also preceded him in death in December 1999.
Survivors include sons, Stephen Stomps of Auburn, New York, Dean Stomps of Columbus, and Randall (Janet) Stomps of Anderson; daughter, Nancy (Rick) Apsley of North Vernon; sister, Betty Bunch of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Sommer, Kristen, Nash, Rachel, Blake, Kole, Frank, Andrew, Christopher, Sybil, and Katie; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stomps was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brother, Walter Stomps; and sister, Phyllis Stomps.

Mr. Stomps was my Boy Scout troop leader back in 1960-62. I remember him fondly and admired him for his warmth and sense of humor. He always enjoyed our individual success while championing our teamwork. He will be missed. God bless him and his family.
