Lewis Edward Richardson, 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida, and North Vernon, died at 3:33 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his residence in North Vernon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Family and friends may call Monday, August 19, 2019, from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Burial will at Cave Springs Cemetery in Jennings County.
Mr. Richardson was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School in Decatur County. He worked in material control for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 32 years before retiring in 1996. He was also a lifelong farmer. Mr. Richardson was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Florida and a former member of Bible Baptist Church in North Vernon. He enjoyed repairing things, handy work, helping others, playing euchre, eating, and drinking coffee.
Born October 8, 1936, in Ripley County, Mr. Richardson was the son of Everett and Florence Sawyer Richardson. He married Wanda Lou Henry June 9, 1957 in Sardinia. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Brad and Dale Richardson, both of North Vernon; daughters, Cindy Stanger of Scipio and Nancy (Ron) Walls of North Vernon; sister, Carol (Charles) Burnett of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald, Robert, and Darell Richardson.
