Edward J. Miller, 85, a long time BBBS volunteer
Edward J. Miller, 85, of Columbus, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Four Seasons in Columbus.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus with Father Andy Syberg officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the church. Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of North Vernon High School and Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict and was an employee of Reliance Electric. Mr. Miller was a long-term volunteer of Big Brothers Big Sisters. His hobbies included handball, racquetball, and tennis.
Born August 2, 1931, in North Vernon, Mr. Miller was the son of Edward Paul and Lucille Hirtzel Miller. He married Joan Klinker September 7, 1953 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Edward J. (Angela) Miller Jr. of Columbus and Steven E. (Janicee) Miller of Batesville; brothers, Charles "Jug" Miller of North Vernon and Paul (Jackie) Miller of California; sisters, Ann Tallant of North Vernon and Dorine (Terry) May of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Ashley, Anna, Lisa and Evan Miller.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard "Dick" Miller.
