Charles O. Wagoner, 76

Charles O. Wagoner, 76 formerly lived in Holton

Charles O. Wagoner, 76, of Lake Placid, Florida, and formerly of Holton, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Ripley County with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Visitation is Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. The Holton Masonic Lodge will conduct services Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Wagoner was a 1955 graduate of North Vernon High School and was a master electrician retiring from Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, in 2002.He had also been employed with Arvin's, Cummins, Kroger, and the former Farm Chemical Service in Holton. Mr. Wagoner was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Holton Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Murat Shrine Club, Dixie County Bass Club, Moose Lodge of North Vernon, and was an honorary member of the Placid Masonic Lodge.

Born September 15, 1937, near Borden, Mr. Wagoner was the son of Alfred and Verna Boardman Wagoner. He married Eva Mae Franklin on December 6, 1959, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Charles Mark (Charlotte Patterson) Wagoner of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughters, Annette (Mark) Sims of North Vernon and Barbette (Chuck) Wickstrom of Benham; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Ann Mills of Lakeland, Florida; and sister-in-law, Susan Wagoner of Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Wagoner.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner's Hospital or the Hopewell Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
