Sallee Ann Short, 73 devoted life to helping
Sallee Ann Short, 73, of North Vernon died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Dan Barringer officiating. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.
Ms. Short worked at the Columbus Regional Hospital for 17 years as a registered nurse, retiring in 1993. She was a 1958 graduate of North Vernon High School and a 1981 graduate of Marian College in Indianapolis. She was a former member of the North Vernon Eastern Star #183 and former Worthy Matron of the Star. Her hobbies included embroidering, working crossword puzzles, and crocheting.
Born on August 16, 1940 in Seymour, Ms. Short was the daughter of Roger Edwin and Kathleen McDonald Lewis.
Survivors include sons, Stephen Short of North Vernon and Dennis Short of Seymour; daughter, Kay Short of North Vernon; brother, James Lewis of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Sean Short of Seymour, Ashley Short of Nashville, Tennessee, Lance (Courtney) Short of Franklin, and Amanda and Devon Short, both of Greensburg; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Short of Nashville, Tennessee, and William and Helana Short of Greensburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sharon Toloday.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the family for funeral expenses.
