Beacher Allen Sr., 78, was retiree of Arvin Industries
Beacher Allen Sr., 78, of Salem, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Ausin with the Rev. Alex McIntosh, the Rev. Billie Jo Deaton and Ryan Watson officiating. Burial was at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Austin.
Mr. Allen retired from Arvin Industries in Seymour and Smith Cabinet Factory in Salem and had worked in a coal mine as a young man. He was a member of Calvary Temple in Austin and the Assembly Church of God in Seymour.
Born Aug. 5, 1932, in Hyden, Kentucky, he was the son of General and Orpha Wooten Allen. He married Mary Allen. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Reynolds and Vada Kerstiens both of Austin; seven sons, Daniel Allen of Jasper, Beacher Allen Jr. of Campbellsburg, Glenn Allen of Pekin, and Charles, Darrell, Mark and David Allen all of Salem; three sisters, Martha Allen of Michigan, Sue Allen of Kentucky and Betty Allen of Maryland; three brothers, Sherman Allen of North Vernon, Hyden Allen of Seymour and Herman Allen of Kentucky; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In additon to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
