Margaret R. "Marty" Cartwright, 76, North Vernon, died Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Kari Der will officiate . Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Born, March 27, 1944, in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late Frank Reese Harper Jr. and Elizabeth (Wisener) Harper. She married Haskell Cartwright on January 26, 1962, in Bainbridge, Georgia. He survives.
Marty was a graduate of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and worked in Administrative for Choctaw Engineering from 1995 until 2004. She also worked in Daycare for ten years.
Marty loved to crochet baby blankets, work on word search and crossword puzzles all the while sipping on chardonnay wine. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to bluegrass, and hanging out with friends at the Log Cabin.
Survivors include her husband, children, Susan May of Commiskey, Rick (Candy) Cartwright of Mary Esther, Florida, Elizabeth (Paul) English of Lithia, Florida, and David Chesser of Granbury, Texas; brother, Bo (Wanda) Harper of Shalimar, Florida; grandchildren, Christi (Tommy) Patterson, Chad (Melissa) Campbell, Chance Cartwright, Kayla English, Chandler (Regan) English, Amber (Christian) Ruddick, Morgan English, Taylor Lawrence, Priscilla (Joel) Portillo, Carly (Zac) Hinds, Dolores Chesser, and Billy Chesser, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends that were like family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: grandson, Stevie Whisenhunt Jr.: and granddaughter, Chanda Cartwright.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Marty to the American Cancer Society.
