Jeanette James, 81, North Vernon, died at 3:36 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021, at her residence. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Born, September 26, 1939, in North Vernon, the daughter of Ruth Tungeitt. She married Ronald L. James on March 6, 1960 at Graham Presbyterian Church in Jennings County; he survives. Jeanette was a 1957 graduate of North Vernon High School. She worked for the North Vernon Chamber of Commerce since 2007 until it closed. Jeanette was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon and a 50-plus year member of the North Vernon Chapter #183, Order of the Eastern Star. Jeanette enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's ballgames. Surviving with her husband are her daughters, Cathi (Tony Starkey) O'Mara and Debbi (Roy Brown) Simpson, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Magon (Scott) Works of Scipio, Nicholas (Heather Lucas) Thompson, Hannah O'Mara, Derika (Brandon) Franks, Dylan (Jodi Ritchie) Herche, and Devon (Jordan Day) Simpson, all of North Vernon and eleven great-grandchildren, all of North Vernon. She was preceded in death by her mother. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Schneck Medical Center Hospice or Visiting Angels of Seymour.
