Henny Weinya de Boer, 95, of Westport died at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Westport. Rev. Earl Taggart officiated. Burial was at Bear Creek Cemetery. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
As a small child, her father owned a bicycle shop where he sold and repaired bicycles in which she loved to help. She got to witness the flight of the Hindenburg and survived the German occupation of the Netherlands. Mrs. de Boer had worked at Oxford Industries for several years and Walmart for more than 15 years as a greeter and in the fabrics department.
Born in Saint Johannesqa, Friesland Holland (Netherlands) March 11, 1925, Mrs. de Boer was the daughter of Siberen and Wiegertje de Jong Weinya. She married Andy de Boer May 21, 1958. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2010.
Survivors include daughters, Wilma (Paul) Marcoux and Janet Price, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jeremy (Courtney) and Nicholas Hermann, Kyle (Mikayla), Emily, and Andrew Price, and Tyler and Cailianna Marcoux; and three great-granddaughters.
Mrs. de Boer was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Meine Weinya; and sister, Gaaske Bremer.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
