Marjorie June Karibo, 96, of New Palestine, formerly of North Vernon, died at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Woodland Terrace of New Palestine.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Saturday, September 26, 2020, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd officiated. Graveside services and burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service was entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Karibo graduated from Franklin Township High School and began working at RCA in Indianapolis where she made headphones for pilots during WWII. In the early 1970s, Mrs. Karibo opened her own gift shop next door to her husband's garage. She had volunteered for 25 years for St. Vincent de Paul Society and enjoyed dressing the dolls that were donated there to get them ready for sale. Mrs. Karibo enjoyed Shirley Temple and the Lawrence Welk show. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Born March 30, 1924, in Acton, Mrs. Karibo was the daughter of Otis and Mabel Wright Bartlett. She was united in marriage to Robert William Karibo September 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Faulkner of Danville, Sharon Sokol of Dallas, Texas, and Shirley Loos of New Palestine; brother, Marvin Bartlett of Lebanon; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Karibo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Karibo; daughters, Patty Tallant and Jenny Herr; and brother, Charles "Bud" Bartlett.
